You know you’re homesick when…

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

…you’re moved to tears by a commercial for fish tacos*. When I first saw this commercial for Taco Time, I literally jumped in my seat. It reminds me of that hilarious episode of Twin Peaks with the Norwegians at the Great Northern.

As a result of our homesickness, we’ve set up the media center so we can watch Norwegian news on our tv. Now I finally understand why JK’s parents got Polish cable all those years!

Oh, and we have a nice, thin layer of snow here too. Apparently this is unheard of in Seattle in March. I think it is kind of nice (reminds me of home, eh?), but I think the people involved in the 60-CAR PILE-UP** in Snoqualmie Pass would disagree.

*eeuw, fish tacos? Seriously?

** SIXTY. A woman at Crop-a-latté said her father was trapped in the middle of it, it was completely insane. As you would expect when 60 cars are involved in a collision…

Crop-a-latté

When JK came home from work today, we jumped into the car to get some groceries at Whole Foods and stop by Ben Franklin Crafts to, ehm, hoard some of the new Basic Grey papers. Ben Franklin was FULL of scrapbookers!! Apparently I came just in time to take part in a scrapbooking club called “Crop-a-latté” - every month you get a page kit to complete at home and share at the next meeting.

It was soo nice to sit in a room full of other scrappers again. I mean, JK is good at listening to me when I blabber on about new products or design or the latest message board drama, but he doesn’t get goosebumps when he sees the new Fancy Pants releases. I’m just sayin’. It was, however, a wee bit embarrassing that I was there in my baggy lounging clothes, no makeup, glasses, and hair pulled straight back. Even though I was really just there to pick up some stuff, that is no excuse to look like a hobo.

Anyhoo, we got a page kit sponsored by DCWV. It’s from the Fairytale collection, so it’s not really my style, but it will be a fun challenge. I should make a layout about Bobby since he got lurve from all the ladies when he and JK came to pick me up! Everyone loves a weird, tiny dog, eh?

Feasts on Scraps is up!

Balls, I just spent two hours fixing this blog and now I don’t even know what to write in my first entry.

Uhm.

Hello world!

Ooh, I know, I’ll copy and paste from my “about” page :D

My name is Ingunn  and my wee family and I moved to Redmond, Washington from Norway in the fall of 2006. Said family consists of me, my husband JK (works for Big Computer Company) and our weird little Italian Greyhound, Bobby (sleeps and eats).

Anyhoo, this blog will be about scrapbooking (hence the name) and whatever else I can think of writing about. I started scrapping in May 2006, and I was immediately hooked. Sometimes I spend more time shopping and hoarding scrapbook stuff and reading scrapbook magazines than actually making layouts, but that comes with the territory.

Oh, my blog title is a bastardization of some lyrics by Alanis Morissette.
